Monday, January 15, 2024- Emergency Warming Shelter Opens at the Astoria Armory 

Clatsop Community Action in cooperation with the Astoria Armory will be opening an emergency warming center at 6 p.m. 

Check in will begin at 6 p.m. and check out will be at 9 a.m. the following morning. 

The Armory is located at 1636 Exchange Street. Please do not gather outside of the Armory prior to 6 p.m.

• Do not attempt to touch or move downed powerlines.
• Stay away from any lines that are down or tangled as they may still be energized (carrying electricity).

Clatsop County continues to urge you to stay home. Roads remain hazardous because of freezing temperatures. Do not drive unless you are having an emergency.

Sunny weather does not mean the weather-related risks have gone away.

Last UPDATE for the night: Approx. 5,800 homes are without power, down from 13,000. The majority are in Seaside and Cannon Beach. Power is estimated to be restored before 8 p.m.

Precipitation will end overnight. Most of Clatsop County will be at or above freezing on Sunday and east winds will subside.

Into early next week, overnight temperatures below freezing may create hazardous road conditions during the morning commute, if there is lingering moisture.

Megler and the New Youngs Bay Bridge are now open as is Hwy 101 at the 26 Junction.

National Weather Service Portland forecasts active weather this weekend into early next week. This includes snow and freezing rain today, cold today through Tuesday, with freezing rain potential later Tuesday. *** A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Clatsop County until 10 p.m. this evening.***

An approximately 15-vehicle collision is on New Youngs Bay Bridge. On Megler Bridge a semi-truck is stuck. ODOT is enroute. No ETA on the bridges being cleared. Do NOT drive.

ODOT is reporting that HWY 101 is closed at the HWY 26 Junction. Vehicles have spun out. ODOT has a sander at the location but they do not have an ETA as to when the road will reopen.

ALERT! Clatsop County urges you to stay home. Icy conditions make it hard to treat roads and sidewalks. Do not drive. If you do so, you put first responders at risk.
