11:45 a.m. Tuesday, January 16

The timing of today’s Ice Storm Warning issued for NW Oregon has shifted to 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, Jan. 16 through 4 a.m. tomorrow, Jan. 17.

The forecast is: 
•    Unseasonably cold through today 
•    Freezing rain expected today through early Wednesday across inland areas including Jewell.
•    Coastal areas from Knappa to Arch Cape will see rain

6:30 p.m. January 15, 2024

We have three updates for you. 1. An Ice Storm Warning has been issued for NW Oregon, including portion of Clatsop County. The forecast is:

  • Unseasonably cold through this Tuesday, Jan. 16, especially overnight.
  • Freezing rain expected Tuesday through early Wednesday across inland areas including Jewell.
  • Coastal areas from Knappa to Arch Cape will see rain

  2. Remember that any ice and snow that has melted today will refreeze overnight. That means it will be a hazardous morning commute. Don’t drive unless you have to.  3. Clatsop County will close county office buildings to the public Tuesday, Jan. 16. County services will still be available by phone or email through 5 p.m. Regular business hours will resume Wednesday, Jan. 17.

Hazards remain, yet conditions have slightly improved. If you must travel, use extra caution by driving slow and steady. Avoid abrupt stops and starts so your vehicle doesn’t slide in icy or snowy conditions.
